Make coloring pages that suit your child
Some children love filling a large picture with bright colors. Others prefer to trace the edges carefully before coloring. With the KidsTracing coloring page maker, you can choose one of six outline illustrations, write a short activity title, and prepare a page to print at home or in class. There is no account to create, and the pictures are intentionally simple enough for young learners.
How to create and print a coloring worksheet
- Choose a picture: pick a butterfly, flower, fish, cat, smiling sun, or rocket.
- Add an instruction: try “Color the Butterfly” or “Give the Rocket Three Colors.”
- Set the paper size: select US Letter or A4, and choose whether to include a name line.
- Check the preview: make sure the title and picture look right.
- Print or save: select Print / Save PDF to use your browser's print dialog, or Download SVG to save the outline drawing.

Coloring skills children can practice
Coloring gives children opportunities to grip a crayon, move their hands in different directions, notice shapes, and make creative choices. There is no need to stay perfectly inside every line. For beginners, invite them to color freely; as their control develops, encourage slower strokes and smaller details.
For ages 3–4: keep it playful
Start with one large picture, a few chunky crayons, and short sessions. Let children choose their own colors. Ask simple questions such as “Which part will you color first?”
For ages 4–6: add a small challenge
Try a color pattern, a two-color rule, or a storytelling prompt. A child might color a fish, then describe where it lives. If they enjoy making letters, pair coloring with our Find and Color Letters activity.
Combine coloring with other printable activities
Coloring is one part of early pencil practice. Shape Tracing helps children follow straight and curved outlines; Letter Formation introduces guided letter strokes; and Shadow Matching encourages children to look closely at pictures.
