Choose this book for Halloween fun that doubles as practice
This is an activity book, not a handwriting drill. Children trace a little, count a lot, match, solve mazes and color, so the pages feel like play while they build early skills. Use it in October for a themed week, or keep the PDF ready all year: the pages work on any day.

Who this book is for
The book is made for ages 3 to 5, which covers preschool, pre-K and the start of kindergarten. Ages are a guide, not a deadline, and every child moves at their own speed.
At 3, focus on the big, easy pages: naming the pictures, coloring, tracing the lines and counting up to 3 or 4. Neat pencil work is not the goal yet. At 4 and 5, many children can count to 10, match shadows and pairs, follow a maze and finish a page with little help.
If your child is still scribbling and is not yet comfortable holding a pencil, start with our pre-writing worksheets or the Pen Control and Pre-Writing Book and come back to this book later.
What is inside the Halloween activity book
Every page has a Halloween picture to name, count, match or color, so there are no plain rows of empty boxes. The pictures come back from page to page, which makes the pages feel familiar. All the artwork was drawn for this book.
Inside the book you will find:
- Meet the Halloween Friends: 24 pictures to name, with a letter for each
- Tracing: 15 line paths (straight, zigzag, wave, jumps, loops and more), 8 shapes, 12 Halloween words and the numbers 1 to 10
- Counting: 20 counting rows, where your child counts the pictures and circles the right number, plus missing-number pages
- Matching: shadow matching, pair matching and matching numbers to groups of pictures
- Five Halloween mazes, from a short path to a longer one
- Thinking pages: find the different one, what comes next (patterns) and big and small
- Dot-to-dot pages (a star and a haunted house), find and circle, and finish-the-picture pages
- Four coloring pictures and three draw-and-decorate pages
- A trick-or-treat safety page, a progress page and a certificate of completion

Why a themed activity book works for young children
Young children pay attention when the pictures are about something they already care about. Pumpkins, ghosts and candy buckets are familiar, friendly and a little exciting, so a page of counting feels like counting bats rather than doing a worksheet. That makes it easier to keep a child at the table for a few minutes of practice.
The pictures in this book are cheerful on purpose. There is nothing frightening in it, so it suits children who like Halloween and also those who prefer the gentle side of it.
How to use this Halloween activity book at home or in class
Print a few pages at a time
Choose US Letter or A4 above and print a small stack instead of all 60 pages. Type a page range in the print window to print only what you need. The cover and certificate have full-color backgrounds, so printing the inner pages only saves ink and avoids thin white edges on a home printer.
Name the pictures first
Before your child starts a page, name the pictures together and say the numbers out loud. This warms up the page and gives you something to talk about.
Follow your child’s interest
Pages do not have to go in order. Start with the maze or the coloring page if that is what they like, and come back to tracing later.
Keep sessions short
About 10 to 15 minutes is plenty at ages 4 and 5, and 5 to 10 minutes at age 3. Stop while your child is still enjoying it, and offer crayons, markers or stickers. Chunky crayons are easiest for 3-year-olds.
Use it for a Halloween week or a center
In a classroom, use the pages as a center activity, an early-finisher task, a party table activity or a take-home pack. At home, keep finished pages in a folder or staple them into a book your child made themselves. Read the trick-or-treat safety page together before going out.
Printing tips: A4 or US Letter?
- US Letter (8.5 × 11 inches) is the standard paper size in the USA and Canada. A4 (210 × 297 mm) is used in most other countries, including the UK, India, Pakistan, Australia and Europe.
- Choose the PDF that matches your paper. Print at 100% or Actual size, not Fit to page, so nothing gets cut off.
- The cover and the certificate have full-color backgrounds. A home printer may leave thin white edges and use a lot of ink on those two pages, so printing the inner pages only is a good option.
- Draft mode saves ink if you are printing many pages.
- Use slightly thicker paper if your child will use markers, so the color does not show through.
- Staple or hole-punch the pages to make a book.
